Launched in early access in February 2024, the project is developed by Lowkick, a game studio based in the United Arab Emirates.
The team operates from Yas Creative Hub, Abu Dhabi. It is led by Andrei Zimenco, a gaming industry professional with over twenty years of experience in game monetization and design.
Team members previously contributed to titles such as World of Tanks, Allods Online, and other large-scale projects. WorldShards introduces a modular world structure in which each floating island features unique, procedurally generated terrain and resources, supporting ongoing content evolution.
Its in-game economy is fully player-driven: all items and resources are gathered, crafted, or traded by players.
Built with Unity, WorldShards uses a hybrid backend that combines traditional centralized systems with optional blockchain components compatible with EVM-based chains. Blockchain integration enables secure peer-to-peer trading of selected in-game assets while maintaining the accessibility of the core gameplay experience.
The Steam PC release and mobile version are planned for 2026. The PC version is currently available through limited access keys, with testing and content expansion ongoing as development progresses toward the wider launch.
